We are looking forward to hosting you for the second annual Fish Outta Water 5k, brought to you by the Jasper Ray Foundation, Swim Brayv, and the Orange County Drowning Prevention Coalition!
Our goal is to raise funds to support drowning prevention efforts while spreading awareness to keep kids and families safe in Orange County! Thank you for taking the time to fundraise for this important issue, we couldn’t do it without you! (This is a fun run and it will not be timed. There will not be official results at the end of the race.)
Last year, we raised close to 17k which allowed us to host the OC Safer Swim Party that took part on July 20th. Those funds brought together our community for a fun day of drowning prevention education and resources along with free rec swim.
We will have some wonderful booths that will be giving out SWAG, a pancake breakfast donated by the Huntington Beach Firefighters Association, and a live lifeguard band to entertain you during the event. This event is not a timed race and we suspect participants will be back by 9am to enjoy breakfast, music, raffles and visit our safety booths.
Drowning is still the number one cause of death amongst small children. With swim lessons, children proportionally reduce their risk of drowning. This event will bring together our community to raise awareness around drowning prevention. It’s important to note, not all communities have equal access to life saving swim and water competency education. Funds raised will support reaching underserved OC families who would otherwise not have access to these resources.
The Jasper Ray Foundation is using Peer to Peer Fundraising pages to register your and your team for the fun run. Follow the prompts to do this. Once you create your page, you’ll want to share your fundraising link to all your friends, family, and colleagues.
